Part of the West Coast is trying to recover from a series of devastating earthquakes. This caused a record drop in the stock market, and due to a national debt of over $23 trillion, the value of the dollar is on the edge of collapsing, causing massive layoffs to start taking place across the country.
At the same time, after a political demonstration is hijacked, riots start breaking out in most of our major cities.
Our enemies see our weakness and know it’s time to take their place as world leaders. Two countries have come up with a way to do just that and have set everything into motion.
Vince and Kim Johnson live on a farm 40 miles to the southeast of Kansas City, Missouri. After serving 17 years in the Army, due to an injury, Vince had to take early medical retirement. Now, the most he thinks he must fight is cabin fever. Little does he know that a chain of events is about to take place that will test all his training and leadership skills.
They are reunited with family, inexperienced friends, plus four of the men Vince served with while in the Army, to prepare and try to survive as there is an Apocalypse Coming.

The right wing slant is pretty much a staple of this genre. A American (whose books I love) even has this view. While I tend to err on the side of compassion I still enjoy this genre. I suspect I’m not alone in being a left wing individual who enjoys the post-apocalypse genre. This genre has definitely convinced me to be more of a prepper and go the range more often.

Absolute trash comment, as someone who actually is a Socialist I usually laugh at how rightwing most of these Zombie & Post Apocalyptic books are, especially if set in ‘exceptionality’ USA - here’s a fact, most of these alleged individuals rely on other individuals and that is the basis of Socialism, which is quite religious in my neck of the the woods.

Well, cooperation is, first & foremost, the foundation of a functioning society/community. Cooperation for purposes of security, trade, resources, etc. Socialism is more of an ideological overlay and alteration of organic social dynamics.
The premise of this sort of fiction is: how would the individual fare if such social norms & assumptions deteriorated to the point of utter collapse.
Pragmatically, few of us are in a position to emerge as fully self-sufficient hunters/trappers/army rangers. Most of my generation are only really capable of making snarky internet comments. That life skill might just keep us alive for a fortnight or so.

The secret the government doesn’t want you to know is the far left and far right make up less than 10%. the other 90% of Americans are rational to some extent and have varied beliefs, but for the most part just want to wear there shackles and be left alone.

Rather than an interesting thought experiment in mentality, family, etc it just ended up being trash dogma with zero thoughtfulness and paints a cartoonish one dimensional picture of anyone who doesn’t fall within a very narrow religious, hard right mindset. I was wary at the warning to begin with, but it was just… bad.
