Um…is this book some sort of pro-Russian agitprop? The opening chapter paints Viktor Yanukovych as some sort of victim of western economic imperialism: are the authors KIDDING?
The man stole Ukraine blind, was convicted of treason and had to seek asylum in Russia. Paul Manafort, campaign manager for both Yanukovic and Trump, is sitting in jail now for fraud, theft, tax evasion, acting as an undeclared agent for a foreign power (for Ukraine), etc, etc, probably hoping the Russian Mafia won’t take him apart with razors. US characters are portrayed in a way I haven’t seen since Mao was around, and many of the plot points read like they were cut-and-pasted from an RT broadcast transcript. I guess you can tell I give this book negative five stars.

The “Russia stronk” theme has aged like milk. Still, it’s intended as fiction. I think.
A decent “things go boom” yarn, but it’s not Turtledove or Clancy or that other dude.
