Earth is not the cradle of humanity. It is the Throne.
Almost 400 years the Terran Imperium has languished, an Empire in name only. The young colonies exploded out of the Diaspora Era, supplanting the homeworld in importance as they left a broken world in their wake. Earth’s people, guided by the Conwin line, have clawed and climbed from the darkness left the night the lights went out. They built and rebuilt the weary and weakened world they inherited, even when it seemed bent on killing them from sheer spite.
For the new generation, such as Young Eryn Aubrey, a new day seems set to dawn with the Empress’ Tri-Centennial surprise announcement of hope and empowerment to the people. There are others, however, who are not nearly so enthused with what The Conwin has to say.
The Empire is a sleeping giant, goaded awake amidst tragedy, betrayal, and the machinations of conspiracy.
Loyalties will be tested, oaths broken, and bonds reforged. And into the galaxy a confused, angry, woken giant is set loose upon those long used to mocking its existence.

Seriously. These hacks clouting off Warhammer buzzwords are pathetic.

@toadmanga
Not sure about that, but Evan Curry’s stuff is usually pretty good.

“Seriously. These hacks clouting off Warhammer buzzwords are pathetic.” Can somebody explain what this guy’s problem is?

Warhammer 40k buzzwords?
Must mean the otherwise obscure words and phrases like “diaspora” (unimaginative copying 40k’s name for Humanity’s first period of interstellar colonisation), “terran imperium” (obviously the barely concealed theft of 40k’s Pan-Terran Imperium), the outright robbery of “I was legion” (I mean, we’ve all got an “I am Legion” Warhammer 40k t-shirt, don’t we?) and even using the word and idea of “Empress” (ripping off 40k’s name for a female emperor - I kid you not, 40k introduced us to femoid rulers!).
I tell you what, though, not true 40k fan would go near a story without Orcs in it! Suckers!

Not Cole’s Law?
The way I see it, readers can laugh with me at such attitudes as I parody or they laugh at me for having such attitudes. Either is fine.

late 17th century (with reference to the Jewish diaspora): Greek, from diaspeirein ‘disperse’, from dia ‘across’ + speirein ‘scatter’. The term originated in the Septuagint (Deuteronomy 28:25) in the phrase esē diaspora en pasais basileias tēs gēs ‘thou shalt be a dispersion in all kingdoms of the earth’.
I think any one would use the word though the concept could be explained other ways.
So you could say 40k stole from history first.
Yet that’s just my opinion.

Other than some innovators that coin new words which are adopted into common speech… all language is “stolen”. Otherwise, we’d all still be grunting like animals. Generally speaking anything we consider creative is merely rearranging existing building blocks in ways which are considered novel at the time. You can’t really get something new from nothing… excepting possible quantum physics theories which can be fairly mind boggling., even then it’s not technically from nothing if I understand it at all which is questionable lol.
