Many thanks. Been waiting for this for quite a while now. 32kbps is fine. Actually, I downsample all my audiobooks to 5.6kpbs, 8kHz using amr compression protocol, which was custom-designed for speech (mp3 was designed for music), to listen on my phone, and the files sound the same to my ear. Why waste bandwidth and drive space?

yea i’ve always preferred lower bitrates. and for those who dont put it through inaudible its an m4b file so you can rip it to what bitrate you want

Don’t listen to suggestions of low bit rate, we have plenty fast internet and usually lots of space. Downsampling for a space limited device is trivial, upsampling because you find the degradation of low bit rate annoying is impossible.

I’m with macbolan. The audio artifacts, the hissing and hums, I repeatedly encounter in downsampled audio files very frequently make me unable to listen to those audiobooks. Apparently my hearing is more keen than that of some listeners. Because, for me, these audio artifacts are anything but subtle.

Thank you. Whatever argument about using iPhones, I don’t use my iPhone, but converted this to MP3, and cut it into 27 30-minute pieces.

I appreciate the rip, but the artifacts make it nearly impossible to sit through. Hopefully we get a rip with better quality (or at least fewer artifacts) soon.
