I is a good but if you discount the errors. Like the launch time of a boomer. In the book it is way to slow. Also no missile can take down a warhead after it enters the atmosphere.
I get the propaganda of the time tried to convince people that this was possible. Yet it is not.
This kinda ruined the book for me.

Yea I know. Yet in my defense he was so spot on,on everything else. Everything was almost perfect. The author must have really researched nuclear subs. That is why I was expecting something better.
I know I should not get my hopes up. Yet when you read something so fundamentally wrong. It kind of kills the whole story.
For me it is like writing a book on the space race then saying that the 1960s space craft pulled the sun out of orbit. It is just silly.
Just like hitting a falling warhead with a missile from a destroyer. Not just once but multiple times.
I could see the hand of God interfering and rolling the dice and winning the lottery once not multiple times.
I can only suspend belief so far.
