You DO remember the politicians of “a certain party” saying they did not WANT America to be the only superpower, right? That they felt less safe in a world where their own country was unrivaled?
That same mentality persists. Americans hating America. Americans who believe literally anything so long as it’s bad about America - it’s the worst nation in the world, the most racist, the most corrupt, blah, blah, blah…
My friends and acquaintances in South America, Asia (that includes India, for the Democrats out there!) and the former Soviet Bloc countries know better. Of course, they have the benefit of seeing reality without the blinder.

that sound like something from Mar-a-lago.
Like it or not, we’re still the cop on the beat-We just need to get over that fact and do a better job.

Did you know Isolationism wasn’t even a political term until it was the 1930s used to smear political rivals that were antiwar during The Great War. They used it as a segue into painting them as weak and indecisive. Also, I’ve heard everywhere that isolation is bad for economics but I have never really seen it conclusively proven anywhere.

It certainly faces challenges, not least ever growing public deficit, ever growing wealth gap and declining living standards, crumbling infrastructure. The other issue is the rise of the fundamentalists, Christian, far right, nativists and as recently demonstrated a vulnerability to populist demagogues with their attempted coups.
